Patience holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration of the University of Calabar,
Nigeria. She is a great grassroots women mobilizer towards participation in community-based
forest restoration activities. She has a lot of knowledge and experience on women’s rights and
participation in sustainable extraction of Non-timber Forest Products (NTFPs), especially in
Cross River State of Nigeria. Her other areas of interest include ecotourism development in
forest communities, mainstreaming of rural poverty alleviation programs for women especially
in public budgets, and gender equity in the distribution of opportunities in the forestry and
biodiversity sector. Her passion for climate change mitigation and adaptation in Nigeria’s rural
communities was why she was approached to join the Board of AERF, of which she gladly
accepted.
